Come see what Portland’s two favorite camera salesmen do with the tools of their trade in their fleeting off hours.</p> <p>Zeb will share, for the first time in a gallery, a selection from “Domesticity”, a long term pinhole project exploring his home life. The project began in 2010 in the laundry room of his house and has since expanded to include such exotic locations as the kitchen, the bedroom, the shower and the dining room ceiling. Using a pinhole, Domesticity sets about to shed new light on all the activities we barely notice that we perform every single day.</p> <p>Jake will show a selection of images from the last six “Contact Portraits” exhibitions. During the last seven years, he has been photographing his friends and neighbors with a large format camera, and then contact printing directly from the negatives. The weird voodoo apparent in each image is, to some measure, a by-product of the process itself – formal, highly pre-meditated, and vaguely funereal. Most importantly, Jake relies on gloom – both the natural northwest light and the demeanor of folks being asked to hold still. This exhibition will highlight images important to Jake, as well as audience favorites, B-sides, and various formerly misplaced work.</p> <p>The show will hang throughout the month of April at Northbank Artists’ Gallery in Vancouver, coinciding with “Portland Photo Month”.</p> <p>You are warmly invited to join the opening reception on Friday, April 5th, from 5pm to 9pm.
